SHADOW GUIDANCE

FOR MEN

Day to dusk to dawn.
In the Wilderness.

Free from civilization, social media, to-do lists, distractions.

Here to get

more intimate with your Shadow.

What is the Shadow?

It’s the part of your psyche that lives in the dark of your unconscious.

Inside this territory are all the parts of you that your ego considers “unacceptable”, pushed out of awareness.

shame.

rage, fear,

Things like

We can also hide more
“positive” qualities
in the Shadow, like our

creativity,
self-worth,

compassion.

Whatever is rejected by the ego is banished to the Shadow.

And we all have a Shadow.

Why Shadow Work?

When we integrate parts that have been relegated to the Shadow, we tap into a tremendous storehouse of POWER.

And we experience ourselves as more Whole.

More Whole equals more Awake. Present. Embodied. Vital.

And more vulnerable. Honest with ourselves. Open in our hearts.

Rooted in a foundation of greater Wholeness, we’re more free to create a potent and impactful life, share in more honest relationships with others, and know our true place in the world.

A Strong

Holding

Key to doing this work in an intelligent way is the strength of the container itself.

This happens in three primary ways:

First, you’re held by Nature.

In our age of optimization, it can be easy to forget how resilient we truly are.

So we do the work in any season, summer heat or winter snow. We feel the solid earth beneath us. The spacious sky.

How we are woven into it all. Unique beings, interweaving with all other beings, and all of Life.

And, dipping a touch deeper: how we are intrinsically one with the Source that created us - and is creating us, renewing us - in every moment. Including this one.

It’s easy to forget all this in the mix of our daily lives. And it tends to be easier to remember this in the holding of Nature.

Second, you’re held by the Medicine.

Hapé (ha-PAY) is the central medicine I work with, ethically and respectfully sourced from tribes in the Amazon. A blend of ground South American mapacho (tobacco) along with other leaves, barks, and seeds, it facilitates a deep grounding in the body and Being. A purifying of the self. And a clarifying of purpose and one’s place in the world.

I’ve cultivated a personal relationship with each medicine I work with. It’s a path I’ve been on for over thirty years, and it’s my honor to respectfully share with you from the core of my own practice and on-the-ground-experience.

Third, you’re held by me.

This work I offer is essentially what I’ve given to myself for decades: time in Nature, with medicine. Unwinding the contracted places, revealing the Shadowed parts, meeting what is ripe to be met, feeling it, moving it, liberating it.

This is what you can expect from me:

  • Presence. Rooted in myself and fully here with you.

  • Creativity. May be drumming, singing, physical expression or - something else! Whatever best supports what’s here and happening.

  • Embodiment. Via 30+ combined years of yoga, martial arts, and qi gong practice.

  • Exploration. It’s in my blood and bones to step off the beaten path and into the unknown. This was nourished by my upbringing in the remotes of Alaska (where there are few beaten paths).

  • Relationality. You’re not alone. We’re in this together. As men, this can be a tough one to feel - and to trust. My knowing of the value of brotherhood rises from my 16 years (and counting) in a men’s group - with the same eight men.

  • An Open Heart. Seeing, feeling, and opening to a profound appreciation of the Feminine that flows through everything - and everyone - while simultaneously abiding in the indestructible Masculine.

You walk into the next-day morning.

More whole. More free. More true.

A never-ending deepening into your Nature.

And all in service to your Wholeness, your humanness, your purpose.

In service to your relationship with self, others, and the world.
