ABOUT

As a GUIDE.

As a kid, I was often overwhelmed by people.

Born in Colorado and raised in Alaska, I found an early refuge from the intensity of human interaction in the big quiet spaciousness of Nature.

But it wasn’t just the manifestations of Nature - mountains, sea, sky, wildlife - that gave me a deep feeling of peace. It was the place where all these manifest from.

The simple Origin of things.

The Origin of all things. And we’re all rooted in it - in the Origin, in Source, in Being, whatever we call it - whether we’re aware of it or not.

This intimate relationship with Being has been a lifelong source of deep strength and wellbeing for me. A tether to, I could say, “home”.

Along with this, I’ve brought into the folds extraordinary medicines that can assist in deepening this relationship.

So now I’m walking into Nature not to get away from people, but to invite people in. And offer to others what has been so potent for me.

As an ARTIST.

Making images is one of the most universal things we as humans do.

Whether it’s handprints on a cave wall or crayons on a bedroom wall.

Which leads me to feel that the most compelling question is not “Why do we create pictures?” but instead “Why do most of us stop?”

And I did come to a full stop, in my early teens. Crippling perfectionism soured what once was an act of joy and self-possession into a painful self-implosion and truly gnarly inner-breakdown.

Following a sequence of entirely unplanned-for events, I bloomed a career in drawing and painting in my mid-twenties. And for the past twenty-five years, I’ve been finding moments of freedom in my art-making, in-between big squeezes of poisonous self-critique and collapse.

I am now in the midst of a creative uprising.

Relating to every moment as a creative act. I’ve set down my brushes and chalks (at least for now), and am working more directly with others - with all that swims in their unconscious places. We travel through the inner-world - and the outer world - together, discovering and creating meaning along the way.

Though I’m not currently painting, I continue to offer prints from my decades of art-making, as well as a small handful of available originals.
