The heart blooms, and offers nectar to those souls who may have forgotten the bounty that is every being’s birthright - strengthening their bones, nourishing their spirit, holding them in the safe warm waters of the free-flowing heart. Feelings of “not enough” - not having enough, not being enough - are washed away, as the joy and bliss of being pervades every liquid cell.
About “The Waterbender”
The Waterbender… the one who abides in the radiant heart as all-embracing awareness. Who knows, tastes, drinks from and is filled by the generous upwelling of life - and from this joyous fullness overflows with an outpouring of love and compassion, as a mother with her child.
This painting was started during online zoom calls with the Luminous Awareness Institute through the spring and summer of 2020 - in the early days of the coronavirus and quarantines, and through the death of George Floyd and the global marches against police brutality - in the (virtual) company of 100 participants and teachers. The artwork centers around the theme of “Water”, as viewed through the lens of LAI. It was completed over the course of four months, in my Colorado studio.
