Koen’s first play-buddy, the charming Jayden. She, the more worldly-wise woman. He, the wide-eyed neophyte. This, a second encounter at their secret meeting spot in the Chateau. In their first rendezvous back in September, Jayden was crawling all over the place, and sitting up on her own with ease. And, to our utter amazement, in the two hours that they were together, Koen learned how to sit upright on his own!

Here we have a more complex variation of Grandma Dianne’s “string on a spoon” project. This is a metal merkaba (two pyramids enmeshed within one another) with a mossy hat tucked inside (hat designed by Koen’s Auntie Marna). I was surveying Koen’s behaviors, when he discovered that he was being observed. Now I know first-hand the conundrum our early 20th century physicists encountered, when struggling to observe their atomic subjects without influencing an effect upon the experimental results.
