Lots to choose from, but – last night was so awesome, how can I NOT write about it?
Starters: late afternoon/early eve session with Deepesh Faucheux. Walked out of his tree house office, “I am the center of my center” emanating from my epicenter, belly-laughing my way to the car.
Next up: back home. Sweet snuggles with my daughter. Clever tricksy play and board games with my son.
Off to: Boulder’s b-sides Lounge. Stuart Davis ROCKED, sang his heart out, and back in again. Windmills & Wheatfields (explicit! but pity ye, who doth not listen) will never be the same, after he preluded it with a shout-out to, um, me, and a purely hypothetical past-life ponysuitin’ fling.
Then: DJ Rekluse ripped it up, as did my dancing diva of a wife, and a big flock of friends, flying high across the dance floor. Sore throat and body aches kept me sidelined, but I was the witness of great, great beauty.
And: a personal sing-to from Becca, sweet, soulful. Shared stories of surrendering to our mortality, before the final end-moment arrives.
Plus: innocent three-way conversation in the b-sides pantry, spanning L.A. politics, mid-western accents, cultural annihilation, aliens, and crow omens.
Topped off by: Laughing in the back alley with wife and friends in 5 degrees farenheit, all of us parents of two kids (and therefore, up way past our bedtimes), liberated for the evening, accompanied by teeth chattering and unreasonable smiles.

How utterly delightful that ALL sounds – so simple, so full and so real. You are a lucky man, made even luckier for being so aware and obviously grateful for your luck. Hope you don’t remain sidelined by sore throats and the aches for long.
emma: Thanks. It was lovely, and – the emerging capacity to recognize loveliness is something I’m big-time grateful for.
