“In Pausing, In Meeting Myself, There Is a Goodness So Large, All Is Touched”
I was in a therapy session. The fabulous Deepesh Faucheux had just noted that I tend to adopt a Calvinistic stance. Huh? “You assume that you’re flawed. That only through good works, will you be saved. That you cannot rest. You must keep going.”* I gulped, dizzy. Uh-oh. One level of assumptions deeper: unmasked. Then…who am I, now?
In stopping, just in that moment, the momentum of a lifetime came screeching to a halt. At least, that’s what it felt like, prior to stopping. After all, I must keep going, working, striving to be better. Isn’t it obvious?!
In stopping, all the love I’d longed for: right here. Essential Goodness, inherent in this moment. Like sweet honey, warm, dripping, aglow.
*My interpretation/bastardization of what was actually said.
